Despite what most people assume when they meet me, I have not always been healthy and I am most definitely not "naturally thin”. I have worked incredibly hard to reach the point where I am today. I was an average kid while I was growing up, but my family moved states between my freshman and sophomore year in high school, and it was very hard.
I had many friends and played sports at my old school and I had no friends and nothing to do at my new school. I gained about 10 pounds that year and as a 15 year old, I had zero confidence. Like all teenagers, I compared myself to other girls and tried to have the “right” look, which is not in my genes and is not natural for me. Weight was already a struggle, and I started developing eating disorders and unhealthy tendencies. I would go without eating then inevitably binge as my hunger caught up with me. My weight yo-yo’d through high school and after continuing these habits during my first year of college, I felt very unhealthy and unhappy.
At the young age of 19, I had gained an additional “Freshman 15” pounds and I absolutely hated getting dressed in the morning because nothing fit! I literally felt like I was spilling out of all my clothes. I was not comfortable in my own skin and I just wanted out. I started hiding when I ate, and rather than just going through periods of restricting, I developed a negative binge/purge habit. I began to avoid going out with friends and I fought depression. I truly believed that I was so fat and ugly that no one would want to be around me. I decided to become vegetarian because I thought it was healthier and would cause me to lose weight.
I really wanted to get better, but I really had no idea what to do. I tried eating the foods that I believed were “healthy” for me, but in reality I had it all backwards!

This confusion led me to study more about health and nutrition. I hit a wall. I literally needed an intervention and thankfully I was smart enough to get a part-time job at a health food store, and I got my first gym membership at age 20.
I felt very awkward and out of place at the gym. I thought everyone was watching me and could tell that I didn’t know what I was doing! Ha ha. I slowly became acclimated to the environment, and learned more and more about fitness and what to do. I soon discovered a new passion for it! I loved the knowledge I gained and how much better I felt as I improved my habits, worked out, etc. At that point during my sophomore year in college, I declared my major as Exercise Science and I found my true mission in life.
By age 21, I had lost 15-20 pounds and was down to 14% body fat. I felt amazing! It was so empowering to feel strong and in control of my health. I no longer felt lost and depressed because I had more knowledge. I created/implemented a vegetarian nutrition program for my college internship called “Veg Out!”. I also started one-on-one nutrition counseling, and began to live a totally new lifestyle.
In 1999, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and Wellness with an emphasis in Nutrition. Since then, I have worked in some capacity or another in the fitness and health industry. I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness and Nutrition Specialist, IFBB Bikini Pro, NPC Competition Coach, YogaFit Certified Yoga Instructor, a Nutrition Counselor, Workshop Presenter, Spokesperson, and more. My newfound love for fitness and health catapulted me into a career and life-long journey that defines who I am, to this day.
Every day I have the opportunity to touch people’s lives and I take it very seriously. My full-time job as coach, trainer, and nutritionist allows me the chance to inspire and motivate others. I love connecting with people and I truly care about their well-being. If I help a mother lose all the baby weight after having a few kids and teach her how to cook healthy meals for her 3 kids, then I feel I have helped an entire family, not just one person! I hope that I can reach generations this way and break the mold of America’s negative lifestyle and eating habits!

I've personally been where you are at right now. I know exactly what you’re going through, and after working with so many clients, I also know exactly what tools you need to be successful. I will work 1-on-1 with you to find the best nutritional and exercise plan that fits your lifestyle, and then help you find simple and practical ways to make adjustments that will help you lose weight. There are no complex theories to understand, no “point systems” to memorize, and no crazy food charts or training schedules to adhere to. This is 100% customized and personalized support just for you. It’s simple, it’s practical - and it works!
You’ve no doubt been disappointed and frustrated by weight loss programs that just didn’t work; so before I suggest anything, we will talk to figure out which diet approach is best for you. I have clients using carb cycling, high carb, ketogenic diets, IIFYM, intermittent fasting, and others different meal plans. I have clients that eat 2 meals per day and I have clients that eat 7 meals per day. Together, we will find which plan is perfect for your lifestyle. I like my clients to be able to have their cake and eat it too :)
Since we work 1-on-1 with each of our clients, we can only take 20 new clients maximum each term. This is the best way to conduct the program as it means you get personalized attention unique for your situation. BUT the downside is that we’ll never be able to accommodate everyone immediately so you might be placed on a waiting list depending on availability.
"Real Food" has ingredients you can read, pronounce and understand. Carbs, fats and sugars are not our enemies. We understand the role they play in maintaining a balanced and fit lifestyle.
My programs provide you with flexibility and an abundance of food options. I have found that if we can keep it real and take a balanced approach to food that we can lose weight, keep it off and finally put an end to "yo-yo" dieting . I encourage healthy habits and want you to enjoy foods that taste great.
So bring on the bacon guac burger, pizza, pasta and pour yourself a glass of wine (in moderation of course).
We have a system that allows you to choose your food and fuel your metabolism properly. We’re focused on building abundant, sustainable and healthy lifestyles, not fad diets.
Anything less leads to binging habits. There is no need to have a cheat day when you can eat foods you enjoy everyday. And I will design a program specifically for you.
